The Wetlands
The Wetlands act as a natural filter for the Willow Pool and the Canal, which runs from the shops.
The floating reed bed is constructed from strong wire mesh and then laid with hessian matting. This is then supported by the black floats. Norfolk Reed was then planted which acts as the filter plant on the hessian matting.
The marginal water areas are planted with native species of water loving plants such as Bull Rush, Mimulus, Yellow Flag Iris and Water Hawthorn. These plants were once very common but due to environmental factors are being found less and less in the wild. Look out for the Dragonflies, Water Boatmen, Frogs and Toads.
